Scary but so thankful

So last Friday morning I got up really early to go to the gym before Keegan and Ava were even up. Jumped out of bed, brushed teeth, grabbed gym card, ipod and keys and headed to 24 hour fitness like I do every morning. Except on the way home ( Ava was not with me - thank goodness) I totaled the car. I have never been in an accident before in my life... well when i was a valet parker I scraped one car but it was not 2 moving vehicles and when I was little my mom hit a deer and that was traumatic cause I could not understand how the deer was going to get to Heaven when the meat was in the freezer (the police officer insisted that we take home some of the meat) but this was my first real accident. It was awful. Unfortunately, it was my fault. I got T boned crossing two lanes of on coming traffic with a green yield light. I could not see the second lane because the traffic was so backed up in the first lane and the sun was shinning... the lady in the first lane waved me through (although I know I can not blame her she could have been saying I can go through or something not that it was clear) so I went for it and bam. Everyone is fine. I am a little sore and will never go that way home anymore but everyone was okay. That is the most important thing. The lady that hit me drove away her car not nearly as damaged as ours which is interesting cause I was driving the much bigger more substantial car. But my roof buckled from the impact and the airbags in my car went off. The worst part of the story is that I did not have my phone or wallet and I do not know Keegans phone number..... I know that is bad so I am working on memorizing a new number a day for a while. But When the ambulance came one of the drivers let me use her phone and she called information and got my father in law on the phone where I had to explain what happened and get him to get in touch with Keegan so that he could a. come hold me and b. bring me my drivers license (luckily this is all very close to our house and to Keegan's parents) and i did not get a ticket for not having my drivers license. Well soon after that Hazel showed up to comfort me as she was headed to the building and it is close. Keegan did not hear his cell phone and Tom (K's dad) did not know our house phone ( i now know it) so now Justin is involved (keegans brother who lives in our neighborhood). He has to come in the back door cause Keegan has adapted to Ava by being able to sleep through anything (completely sober)including door bells. Justin gets stuck with a hungry fussy Ava (thanks J you are the best) and Keegan comes up to the bring me my wallet and bring me home as the Lexus is towed. Sad day in the Ripp house because we loved that car and well... the plan was that I would get a new car in January and K would drive that car but now i get a new car now and well Keegan will get a new old car as soon as we can afford it. But we are all okay is the big thing. I came home that day and all I wanted to do was hold Ava... I ran in the door and grabbed her and just held her tight for the rest of the day. Amazing how quickly life can change. I am so thankful that no one was seriously hurt. drive safely.
