ava loves her daddy... and well he loves her a lot too

ava is loving the whole upside down trick that Keegan has been doing with her .... I normally stand in the back ground and say no..... she just ate or no dont do that now her tummy is funny

and as this picture shows....i am clearly worried for no reason and she is bored without some action.....

so here are a few pics from the weekend while Grannie was here. Now we are working really hard on getting Ava back on the bottle. She was taking it fine for weeks 3-6 and then we kinda stopped giving them to her. I would pump and make them for Keegan to give to her while I was at the gym or something and for one reason or another he never needed them and they were happy. I did not realize this would mean she would now be very against bottles. So for the past 3 weeks we have been working on this a lot but now it is crunch time as I am leaving a week from tomorrow for New Mexico to be a maid of honor in one of my best friends weddings. With the advice from our pediatrician we decided Ava was a little young to fly so Keegan planned on having a weekend with Ava. He was excited and planning all sorts of fun activities for the two of them ( i know what can you do with a 11 week old.... but Keegan was brainstorming) and I was thinking I would be a much better bridesmaid with Ava not there ... so for the past month I have been waking up extra in the night to pump and freezing the milk for daddy and little a's big weekend...... however now we have to get it so she drinks from a bottle or this plan we devised will not be a successful one.

Ava got her first pair of sunglasses. Thought you all needed to see.
This weekend Grannie came (my mom) to visit and see Ava. The last time she was here we went to the doctor for Ava's two week old check up and now Ava is over two months. I now feel like I know what people say when time goes by so fast or kids grow up quickly it makes me sad and excited. We had a great time with my mom and took her to play Lazer tag for the first time.... so she would understand what Keegan meant when he was going over building plans and Shenaniganz references. We also relaxed, walked, watched movies, cooked, went into Dallas and she enjoyed playing with Ava. The other thing that is new in Ava's world is that she is sleeping in her bassinet (NO we have not moved to the crib yet but it is a big improvement from in our bed or on me) and the past two nights she has slept over 8 hours without waking up. I have been waiting for this moment for a while... now I just have to sleep through the night too and we will be a more rested family. Well truth is Keegan sleeps through it all so when he is not well rested he is staying up too late;)

ava loves her daddy

so this morning as Ava and I were headed over to Keegan's work so that I could leave her while I went back to the gym to get my cardio in (I did wieghts with the trainer at 5:45 --- trying to get back in to shape) I loaded her in the car seat which normally is not her favorite trick but loves her toys ...

and I asked her if she wanted to go see daddy and this was her response...

Shenanaganz

(for any of you blog readers who did not know...... besides to be close to family we moved to Rockwall for Keegan to be a part of an exciting project with his family. They are opening up a family entertainment center called Shenanaganz here in Rockwall. It will have bowling, lazer tag gokarts, huge arcade, restaurant and bar. They bought a 75,000 square foot building and will do a lot of remodeling) Construction is beginning on the Family Entertainment Center .... exciting exciting exciting. Keep your fingers crossed for a December Opening and know that little ava will have the bowling shoes before she can walk probably.

Happy two months.... now here are 6 imunizations

I can't believe that it has been two months since Ava joined us. On one hand pregnancy seems like it was so long ago. I miss the firm hard belly (oh postbaby belly is not something I am having fun with) and neither Keegan or I can really imagine life without Ava and just how much we are in love with her. We knew we would lover her - i mean we loved her as jobina a lot but neither of us were prepared for this kind of extreme love. On the other hand I remember bringing her home from the hospital so clearly and how tiny she was.... and well how scared of her I felt. Two whole months seems like it flew bye and also like it was forever ago that she was in me and i had a good night sleep.
Two months also means .... "a well baby check". We had not been to the pediatrician since she was two weeks old so things had changed and grown. She weighed 11 pounds 12 ounces (just a reminder she was 7 pounds 10 ounces when she was born) and seems healthy.
The sad thing was this was also when she got her first round of shots... and she was just so happy when she woke up this morning. I mean She was in such a good mood, it was prolly that daddy stayed home to go to the doctor with us and she really does love Keegan. She had a fun shower with him this morning and tons of dancing in the house. And then she gets lots of needles. But she was an angel... Keegan held her down and they gave her all her shots in both thighs while I stood in the corner with tears in my eyes (yes I am a baby... but they were hurting my little baby) She cried and then was silent not breathing and then would cry again as the next needle went in.... the sweet nurse did them very quickly so it was over fast and then Keegan scooped her up and snuggled her all the way to the car.... we did not hear another peep out of her and now I have her home (still no little noises) asleep in her car seat. As soon as I finish this I am going to get her out and hold her and have her sleep on me (they did say it would be harder on mom then her TRUE so far) and when she wakes up ... hopefully she will not feel too crummy. The doctor said she would prolly get a fever and be uncomfortable for a few days so we will see. We are so hoping she is not bothered by the medicines but we did get her a few new toys to play with so hopefully that will cheer her up and I am prepared to hold her all day if she wants it (they say you cant spoil them at this age but i dont think you can ever spoil them with love any way.) and have the infant tylenol dropper on hand.

Ava hits the pool.....

So here are a few pics from Ava's first trip in the pool. And well for anyone wondering (prolly not but just in case) it is keegan's parents pool and it is salt water.... so no public pool juices for such a little one or harsh chemicals.

just a few from the weekend

they had a lot of catching up to do"sometimes daddy's shoulder is just the safest place to be while taking in this big world"
the obligatory sleep on visitor picture

Tuesday, July 1, 2008

Pop has come and gone and it was wonderful to have him here with us. We took Ava swimming for the first time in Keegans parents pool (because 1. it is not public (and i am still germ phobic) and 2. it is salt water (and i worry about chemicals)) the result was she loved it. I mean really loved it, hopefully my dad will send me the pictures he took so you can see them. My dad was quite smitten with Ava and i was sappily touched by the two of them together.
So now the visitors are finished for a month and time for us to make more of a daily routine. Today consisted of getting up and taking keegan to work, nursing and hanging out there until i felt it was safe to leave her with Keegan ( not that i do not trust him with her at all... he is amazing... but he is at work and can't really play with her a lot) so I can sneak off to the gym. Then pick her up and nurse her again before heading to the grocery store and errands. Then home and time so she can eat yet again (oh and there are diaper changes in there too). Ava played and kicked under her jungle gym while i did a few things and then it was bath time (which just like the pool she absolutely loves) and then time to finally get dressed (which is not so much her favorite thing). The late afternoon consisted of playing (lots of kicking), tummy time, nursing, pooping, and a little napping and laundry for me. Then it was 6 ish - this is when Ava some times gets a little fussy ... so we start to dance. Put on some Aretha Franklin and we move. This makes her happy again in time for Dad to come home and play with her. Dinner, nurse, nightly walk and then Keegan puts her to sleep.
So that was today..... tomorrow will be different because each day she does new things and smiles more and girgles louder.
